Football: Cards wait on Westley decision

Graham Westley

WOKING look likely to miss out on the chance to interview Graham Westley amid strong suggestions he is on his way back to rivals Stevenage Borough.

The former Farnborough Town, Boro and Rushden boss has been out of football since leaving Rushden mid-season.

He was strongly tipped for the Cards’ shortlist having applied for the job.

And while appointing him would split opinion among Cards’ fans, if reports are to be believed, he will head up a three-man team at the helm of Woking’s biggest rivals, who have said they plan to make an announcement within the next week.

Chairman Phil Wallace has targeted his man, rather than go down the route of inviting applications, as Woking have done.

Westley was believed to be one of the highest profile names in the 38-strong list of applicants, which now includes Steve King, former manager of Lewes.
