Sunglasses were the order of the day for the youngsters of Pyrford Primary School.

Sunglasses were the order of the day for the youngsters of Pyrford Primary School.

SUNGLASSES were a compulsory part of the uniform on Friday at Pyrford Primary School when children donned their favourite specs for a charity day.

Pupils at the school in Coldharbour Road were raising money for the Kenyan Development Trust as they support a primary school in Ilmao in Kenya.

Each child paid £1 to support the charity and wear their sunglasses to school for the day.
Mandy Munro, assistant head, said: “We work with the Church of the Good Shepherd in the village to raise money for a school in Kenya.

"The children all had a lovely time and we also taught them how important it is to wear sunglasses in hot weather. We raised £240, which should be going towards water storage for the Kenyan school.”
