Thieves escape with large haul in jewellery theft

Thieves searched the main bedroom on the first floor where they found a ladies’ Cartier watch, valued at £500, as well as a ladies’ gold Accurist watch, valued at £300, and another Accurist silver watch, valued at £300.
Several necklaces were taken, valued at £250 in total, and many yellow and white metal earrings, valued at £250. A £500 eternity ring was also grabbed during the burglary.
Woking Sergeant Chris Smith said: “We would advise members of the public not to keep large amounts of valuable jewellery in the raid.
“It is a good idea to have a safe where you can keep valuable items to prevent them from being stolen, or keep jewellery in various places.”
Byfleet PC Nick Griggs reminded residents about security issues at a police
reassurance meeting in December, following news that there had been an increase in burglaries in the area.
Current police figures show that burglaries from homes in Byfleet have decreased from four in the period from November to December, to two reported in December to January.
Anyone with any information regarding the burglary should contact Surrey Police on 08451 252 222 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
