Youngsters give thumbs up to new equipment

Youngsters have a wide range of fun things to do at Byfleet Primary School’s playscheme.

Youngsters have a wide range of fun things to do at Byfleet Primary School’s playscheme.

To keep the children busy in the summer holidays, Woking Borough Council is running schemes at six sites for children aged five to 13.
The one at the school in Kings Head Lane runs until August 25. It operates from 9.30am to 3.30pm and extended hours of 8.15am to 5.30pm are available for parents who work or have a busier schedule.
Playscheme leader Katie Streeter Hurle said: “We have been doing arts and crafts and sports, including cricket, football and volleyball.
“We swim in the school’s pool and the children get to go on trips.
“We went knee-boarding, which is a bit like water-skiing but easier. There will also be a trip to a farm.”
With the new art equipment, children have been busy creating their own super-heroes, which they gave special powers to.
Katie added: “Last week we made pirate hats and swords as we had a pirate day. Children also drew around themselves and made life-size portraits.
“They have all been having a great time and it’s a good way to keep them busy in the holidays.”
Bookings can be made at the site and staff members are available to give information on prices for the playscheme.
