Warning issued over use of mini-motorcycles
. A boy, 12, was caught riding a mini-motorcycle in Church Road on Friday June 16 and given a warning. The vehicles require a DVLA licence, which are only issued to those aged 17 and over. Insurance and tax are also necessary for the vehicles. PC Griggs said: “I have noticed an increase in mini-motorcycles on the road and I would like to reinforce that the use of them on public land is illegal. “I would urge parents to seriously consider where their children are planning to use mini-motorcycles if they are considering buying them as a present. The only place that motorcycles can legally be used is on a race track. “The Police Reform Act 2002 gives us the power to seize these mini-motorcycles if they are seen being ridden on a road or other public place. “The use of these mini motorcycles on parkland, pavements or on the road is considered anti-social behaviour and will be dealt with accordingly.
