The tree, made from a wire sculpture covered in papier-mache, currently welcomes visitors to the reception at the school.
Head of art and design Satvir Babre said: “I originally came up with the idea of creating the tree as part of art week in the school.
“The tree has been on display in the school reception and people have been commenting on it.
“We had a big collection of recyclable junk products including cartons and boxes that the children brought in from home.
“The children then made animals from the materials. Each twig and leaf on the tree was made by individual pupils.
“Pupils from years five and six also worked with the Montessori children from the Infant School, which was lovely and a great learning experience for them.”
As well as standing as an piece of artwork in the school reception, the tree fits in well with the Eco Schools project, which makes children more aware of environmental issues such as recycling.
Schools have three stages, bronze silver and gold to work towards.
For each stage the school has to meet certain criteria.
Students have set up an environmental committee and have been taking orders for hanging baskets and planters that only require watering once a week.
Pupils in year six will be making the baskets and selling them to parents
