Cup of coffee is poured over knife attacker

The attack happened at around 11.20pm near Byfleet and New Haw railway station in Byfleet Road.
The victim was walking under the railway bridge from the Byfleet side and was talking on his mobile phone headset. A man approached him and asked for a cigarette.  As the victim offered him one, the offender grabbed the victim’s top and threatened him with a knife, demanding his wallet.
At this point a number of cars came to a stop at the traffic lights in front of the bridge.
As the offender tried to pull the victim towards the station entrance, the victim poured his cup of coffee over the offender’s stomach causing him to walk off towards the station entrance empty-handed.
The offender is described as white, in his mid-20s, averagely built and around 6ft, clean-shaven with light-coloured eyebrows. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with the hood up and dark coloured trousers.
Police believe that a number of motorists may have witnessed this incident and are urging them to come forward with any information.
