Meeting reports drop in crime

Residents who attended the meeting heard that reported crime has fallen by 33 per cent since the previous reassurance meeting in December.
PC Griggs said the overall number of reported crimes for the period October 4 to December 6 was 296 and for the period December 7 to January 23 was 199 — a reduction of one third.
The meeting also heard that vehicle crime, including the theft of and from, as well as damage to cars, was down by 12 per cent since the last period, although burglary figures had remained the same.
PC Griggs said that he was pleased to be able to report these figures
