Couple celebrates New Year’s Day with a new arrival

Parents Beverley and Nick Howard of West Byfleet cuddle their New Year’s Day arrival, baby Toby

Beverley and Nick Howard celebrated the arrival of their first child, a son Toby, at 7.10am on New Year’s Day at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey.
Toby weighed 8lb 6oz and was at home that evening to meet friends and family.
Mrs Howard said: “We planned to have a quiet evening on New Year’s Eve but did not expect Toby would arrive so soon. We thought there would be no way he would come on January 1.
“I went into labour at 7pm on New Year’s Eve, while watching a repeat of Only Fools and Horses and I was still in labour when the clock struck midnight.
“I could hear fireworks going off nearby to celebrate the new year’s arrival and it was a really special moment.
