A cracking good play called It’s a Cracker was performed by the youngsters at St Mary’s School

Budding actors and actresses aged four to seven took time out from rehearsal to pose for the News and Mail ahead of the two performances yesterday and today.
Judith Winborn, key stage one co-ordinator and year two teacher, said: “It is a different angle on the traditional nativity because it is set in modern times around the dinner table, where grandad is explaining to the children about the origins of the traditional tale.
“Flashbacks are used so it paints the story in a new light. We have around 70 to 75 children taking part in the production with about 15 main characters who are on stage all the time.
“They have had to learn lines but other children join in with singing and dancing so no-one has been left out.
