Shoe boxes of joy for the needy
. Youngsters at Byfleet St Mary's School pile up the shoe boxes collected in their Christmas appeal. The pupils have been collecting items such as picture books, toys, sweets, small items of clothing and toiletries to put in shoeboxes. The boxes have been sent to eastern and central Europe by the charity Samaritan’s Purse, which aids people in poverty-stricken countries. Mary Evans, receptionist at the school, said: “The children have been very enthusiastic about helping others in poorer countries. “The collection was organised by Christina Burnham, one of our classroom assistants.” Last year Samaritan’s Purse delivered gift boxes to more than one million impoverished children
