Joyce Walton, 60, of  Chertsey Road, cares for those seriously ill with cancer in their own homes and has been a Marie Curie nurse for seven years.
She said:  “It is great to get through to the finals and I do hope that I can help raise the profile of the work of my nursing colleagues. I look forward to helping to further people’s understanding of our work.”
She will join other finalists in London for a two-day training and judging session, including media training to help her handle interviews if she wins the title. The winner, who will be named next month, will have the chance to be an ambassador for her Marie Curie nursing colleagues in England and will spend 12 months promoting the work of the charity
