Ooh la la, it’s Monsieur Vaquier

The plays were written by Year two teacher Zoe Smith and based on ‘the environment around us’, which the pupils had been studying.
The first play related to Brooklands, the history of the historic site and what currently goes on there.
The second was about the murder at The Blue Anchor Hotel in Byfleet. The character of Jean Pierre Vaquier, the murderer, drew much amusement from the children.
Year two teaching assistant Debra Woolmer said: “It was very entertaining. All the children enjoyed taking part and Monsieur Vaquier was a great hit with his French accent.
“The way it was done. I think. will help the children remember the facts.”
The pupils did especially well as they did not start organising the play, including costumes, scripts and backdrops, until one week before it was performed.
