The Mayor presented flowers to the centre’s longest serving volunteers and to the centre’s first and most long-standing customers, Rose George, Lillian Wood and Florence Walker — who all met Diana, Princess of Wales when she officially opened the centre in 1986. St Mary’s Centre for the Community provides a meeting place and activities for the borough’s retired residents.
