Better accessNEW signs and access are among the improvements at Hawley Meadows being paid for from a donation from SC Johnson of Frimley Green. The Blackwater Valley Countryside Trust is delighted with the £8,108 windfall towards work following the installation of two new footbridges. The money will enable an essential hydrological survey to be completed prior to further work being carried out on this important site. It will also pay for new signs and site access improvements by resiting the cattle crush, levelling a ramp and resurfacing the car park. Hawley Meadows is an important river floodplain site with a wet grassland habitat supporting a wide range of wildlife. It straddles the border of Surrey and Hampshire along the west side of the A331 between the M3 and A30, but up until last year visitor access was always a problem. The installation of the two new bridges has greatly improved access across the river to the Blackwater Valley Path on the other side and helped open up the site to visitors
