The final 10, announced in February, have now been whittled down to four who are all in with a chance of winning the £100,000 prize. The Lightbox is up against the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol, Shetland Museum and Archives in Lerwick and the Wellcome Collection in London. Director Marilyn Scott said: “Making the shortlist is beyond our wildest dreams. It is a real testament to the Woking residents who were so determined to have an arts and heritage facility for the town. “We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us with wonderful comments on the Art Fund Prize website. “If anyone hasn’t had time to leave a comment, please do. We need your support more than ever as we approach the final decision.” Art Fund director David Barrie said: “These diverse projects not only span the country, but also a dizzying range of topics, from slavery and medical science to contemporary art and seafaring. “In their very different ways they prove how exciting our museums and galleries can be.
